The KCC Free Clinic relies on volunteers to provide free, high- quality health care to the uninsured, low-income residents of the communities we serve. It is due to our selfless volunteer doctors, nurses, screeners, interpreters and administrative assistants that we are able to make a difference in the lives of so many.
Roles
Volunteers generally work one 4-hour session every 4 to 6 weeks, but may work more or less frequently as they choose.
Nurses
Two volunteer nurses staff each clinic session. All nurses are covered under the KCC Free Clinics’ malpractice insurance policy when they are working in the clinic.
Physicians – Primary Care
A volunteer physician staffs each clinic session. A physician who volunteers at the clinic must be either board-certified or board-eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, or Emergency Medicine.
We also have opportunities for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) certifiedin the areas of Adult Medicine, Family Practice and Pediatrics (at the Norwalk site).
All Physicians and APRNs providing primary care are covered under the KCC Free Clinics' malpractice insurance policy when they are working in the clinic.

Physician Specialists
The KCC Free Clinic need physician specialists in all areas who are willing to see our patients in their offices at no charge. The specialist can designate how many patients he or she is willing to see on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.
Screener
One Case Manager/Social Worker each walk-in clinic session. They administer a one-page intake questionnaire to all new patients as well as periodic updates on returning patients. This intake questionnaire is used to determine a person’s eligibility for our services. Due to the nature of the information exchanged, screeners must be 21 years of age or older.
Public Relations, Events and Administrative Support
At various times, the clinic needs clerical/administrative help, including mailings, data entry, health fairs and special events. We can also use volunteers to assist with graphic design for newsletters and posters, to plan volunteer recognition programs, and to speak to civic groups about our program.
